A hardware company, building locally
Most people who move goods in East Africa already own a bicycle. It’s slow on hills and hard work with a load. We add a motor and a removable battery, so the same bicycle does more trips in a day, without fuel.
Operations began in 2021, and Karaa Solutions Limited was incorporated on 28 July 2023. Today we sell in Uganda, Kenya and Zambia, and we’re developing ways for the same battery to run a pump or lights off the bike.

From one rider to three markets

Operations begin in Kampala. Nathan Matovu becomes our first rider, delivering food on a converted bicycle.

About 100 bikes sold across Uganda, Kenya and Zambia, each one on an invoice.
