The REF fat bike, electrified
REF builds bikes with fat tyres, disc brakes and suspension. With a Karaa kit fitted, rough ground stops being an obstacle.

Some routes eat ordinary bicycles: loose murram, sand, wet clay, kerbs. For those routes we electrify REF bikes, whose wide tyres shrug off ground that pinches a normal wheel.
REF is an Indian bicycle brand. We convert three REF models: the 26-inch Fat Bike Pro, pictured here with one of our riders in Kampala; the 27.5-inch MTB Pro, an aluminium 21-speed hardtail; and the MX01, a 30-speed hardtail with hydraulic disc brakes and a suspension fork.
The conversion is the same system that runs every Karaa: a motor wheel, a removable battery good for up to 120 km, and the app (GPS tracking and remote lock are coming soon). Fat tyres plus pedal assist is a forgiving combination; the bike floats where others sink, and the motor erases the extra rolling weight.
Because REF riders choose different models and specs, we price these per order. Pick your REF, send us the model, and we quote and convert it for you.
