Buffalo country is conversion country
Zambia and Malawi run on bicycles. World Bicycle Relief has put hundreds of thousands of Buffalo bicycles to work there, carrying produce, students, milk and medicine. Every one of those bicycles can become electric, because the Karaa system is compatible with every Buffalo model.
That matters because the hard part of electric mobility, getting a tough bicycle into a rider’s hands, is already done in these markets. What remains is the kit: a motor wheel, a removable battery, an app. Fitted in about an hour, it turns the region’s workhorse into a machine that climbs escarpment roads loaded and charges from any socket for about 20 US cents per 100 km.
We deliver kits from Kampala to Zambia and Malawi, quoted with shipping per order. For cooperatives, NGOs and fleet programmes running Buffalo fleets, conversion is a fraction of the cost of new vehicles and keeps every bicycle already bought in service.
We are also recruiting dealers in Lusaka, Lilongwe, Blantyre and the corridor towns between them. Bicycle shops, spares dealers and solar retailers already have the customers; we add the product, the training and the warranty support.
