Electric bikes for delivery riders: what changes in a shift
A Poland-based study of Glovo and Uber Eats couriers found e-bike riders complete roughly two to three times more orders a day than couriers on foot, about 25 orders on an e-bike against 5 walking and 13 on a standard bicycle. The advantage isn’t speed alone, it’s covering more of a city without running out of energy by the afternoon.
That data is European, but the mechanics of delivery work don’t change much crossing continents. A rider’s day is limited by two things: how far they can cover, and how much energy they have left to keep covering it. A standard bicycle answers the first question reasonably well and the second one poorly, fatigue sets in and the pace drops through a shift. An electric bicycle keeps the pace closer to flat from the first delivery to the last.
For a rider or a small fleet already working on standard bicycles, converting rather than buying new is the lower-cost way to test whether this actually changes daily earnings. A Karaa long-range kit fits an existing Buffalo or similar bicycle for UGX 1,650,000 to 1,930,000, a fraction of buying a new electric motorcycle, and the same bicycle keeps doing the same delivery route, just faster and with less fatigue by the end of the day.
Fleet operators running more than a handful of riders should look at procurement in bulk rather than kit by kit, the maths on financing and maintenance changes at scale. Karaa’s dealer and fleet content covers that separately.
Common questions
Does an e-bike actually increase daily delivery orders, or just make riding easier? Both, but the order-count evidence (2 to 3x versus walking) comes from a European courier market, treat it as a strong signal, not a guaranteed local multiplier until Karaa has its own rider data to confirm it.
Can Karaa fit an existing delivery bicycle? In most cases yes, see the compatibility guide linked below before ordering.
