What an electric bike costs in Africa in 2026

The Karaa Range kit at UGX 1,650,000 fitted, complete e-bikes from UGX 2,695,000, and about UGX 700 of electricity per 100 km. The full picture.

A Karaa electric bike costs between UGX 1,650,000 and UGX 2,695,000 in Uganda, depending on one decision: convert the bicycle you already own, or buy one ready-built.

Convert or buy ready-built?

Converting is the cheaper path. A Karaa Range conversion kit costs UGX 1,650,000, fitted, and does up to 120 km on a charge. Your bicycle keeps its frame, its saddle and its history; it gains a motor, a removable battery and an app. The short-range Karaa Lite is out of stock for now.

A complete electric bike, built on the Buffalo Universal MTB, costs UGX 2,695,000. GPS tracking and remote lock are coming soon. Uganda prices include 18% VAT.

What it costs to run

The number that matters most comes after the purchase. About UGX 700 of electricity moves an electric bike 100 km. The same distance on a petrol boda boda costs around UGX 15,000. A rider covering 100 km a day keeps what a motorcycle burns.
